On Sunday afternoon, in the final moments at Old Trafford, out-of-favour forward Amad Diallo netted the winner against Liverpool to secure Manchester United 's place in the FA Cup semi-finals. Moments later, referee John Brooks handed Diallo a red card for his celebrations but with a huge grin on his face, the former Sunderland loanee walked down the tunnel to huge applause.
With a minute remaining of the opening 45, an effort from Alexis Mac Allister took a deflection off Kobbie Mainoo's left boot, beating Andre Onana to his right. As a result, the Egyptian forward became the first player in history to score in five consecutive away games against United. Liverpool would continue to exploit the gaps between United's midfield and defence – and should have put the game to bed earlier on. But the unexpected right boot of Antony levelled the game with three minutes of normal time remaining. The tie went to extra time and after a relatively even period, Harvey Elliott netted to put Liverpool ahead with another deflected strike. And then, in the most dramatic of endings, Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo netted to give United the biggest win of their season to date.
