Alternative sites could be considered for a planned GP “super-hub” serving south Shrewsbury and replacing six existing surgeries. READ MORE:

If approved, Marysville, South Hermitage, Marden, The Beeches, Belvidere and Claremont Bank practices would become part of the new Shrewsbury Health Hub

Under the plans, six GP practices would be based together from 2025, alongside health, social care, voluntary and community services. Shropshire Council said it was looking into transport options as well other possible sites for the hub. Dr Charlotte Hart, clinical lead for the project, has previously said letting local GP services continue as they are is "not an option", but that no final decisions have yet been taken on the hub.The current surgeries range between 2.6 miles and 0.8 miles from the preferred site, in Meole Brace.

Shrewsbury MP to visit a GP 'super hub' to see plan in actionShrewsbury's MP says he will be visiting a GP 'super hub' elsewhere to see how it might operate in the county town. Because they can’t get there! Shropshire is useless at public transport. People want local services. This is not being done for the convenience of the local community. Why go to Cheshire? There's one at Sundorne - I attended there 3 weeks ago - 1 off visit I was disappointed in the obvious shortcomings. Huge car park full, no obvious instructions to patients where to go. Huge waiting area no planning in place. Witnessed 4 complaints in 10 mins. It doesn't work in Telford TELDOC is an unwieldy, monopolistic monstrosity
