The Reading West MP was in the Commons on Wednesday for the second reading of the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill, when he began to feel unwell.
Measures to allow MPs who cannot attend due to age and health issues to participate via Zoom and to vote via proxy were approved on Thursday. Reacting to the news of Mr Sharma's negative test, Lib Dem MP Daisy Cooper said it was"good news" but it"should still be a wake-up call for Rees-Mogg".
Yeah right... course he did
Saw lots of sarcastic comments at the time. Time people realised that their little covid19 brain needs to break out and see the whole health issue. They need to stop looking at health through their chosen party. Millions of other issues, mainly left to suffer in silence.
BBCScotlandNews Lies!!!
He can still have the disease. Bet he knows that
Still nice to spread whatever he has... sure the other MPs appreciated it. Apart from that it’s reckless behaviour again as he hadn’t been tested when he was in parliament. Two rules for two parts of society. Well done - again!
Erm, if he has a fever, shouldn't he have been self isolating? Is this another example of not being bothered to follow the rules?
Need a second test in 5 days time.
I had to wait 5 days for my positive result. He got his 'negative' test back almost immediately. Let me guess, is he self isolating for precautions sake We wouldn't want Rees Mogg to look foolish over the return of Parliament now would we!!
So what was wrong with him? Delayed response to the spicy vindaloo the night before? Or prawn curry allergy? He was sweating a lot.
Straight back to work then....prove it.
FOI request required
Read all about it ‘man tests negative for Corona virus.’ ‘It was only a sneeze’ says wife ‘we’re all so relived, it’s been a difficult 24hrs and we thought we’d lost him.’
Are we just going to forget how all the news outlets reported that he tested positive before even being tested at all?!.. Media scum
BBCPolitics Patient zero for the second wave.
BBCPolitics Yawn......
Bad luck Brussels Broadcasting Corp....definitely not the result you wanted eh?
False negative? Honestly he did appear to be suffering and everyone's best wishes are with him. If its hay-fever then it's bad enough but for the sake of proving a false negative take another test.
Get on with plans for successful British business future and Whats needed
AlokSharma_RDG should continue to isolate, or if not, others should isolate themselves from him!
Or was it a false negative?
I was right he got I'll watching Boris melt during PMQ as did many of us lol
Is this after 2 tests? Allowing for the false negative. How quickly results can be gained!!! My mum had to wait 3 days for her results and this was whilst a patient in hospital dying from pneumonia acquired whilst in care home. Sadly she passed away a few days later.....
Hmm.....
I bet that’s pissed off the bbc screwed tomorrow’shead line bbc can confirm 🤔:
This news will upset the workshy opposition benches.
JohnBoweActor Mmmmmm Boris bullshit!
BBCScotlandNews 🙁
Well as with any statement put out by the Tory mendacity machine I will take the information that AlokSharma_RDG has tested negative with a very large pinch of salt.
Bxxx xxxx
parliament presence of mp’s gives companies the ammunition to force employees to the office, even though WFH has worked until now.ever heard of leading by example?BorisJohnson 10DowningStreet SadiqKhan Jacob_Rees_Mogg
Probably lies these clowns wouldn’t tell us even if it was positive!
Another overreaction- when is it ever going to end
That's a big handful of coke
Boris will be disappointed as he will not have an excuse to disappear for another fortnight. BorisTheLiar
False negative?
Super fast track result from the test!! Still waiting after 5 days for mine (front line key worker)
Finding his negative test result hard to fathom given his obvious COVID symptoms yesterday. The last time I saw someone persistently wiping their face like that was the Iranian health minister who tested positive shortly after. Is there a possibility it could be a false negative?
Rubbish
*negative at the moment. Retest if remains symptomatic. Negative test doesn’t necessarily mean covid negative. StaySafeStayHome
My friend tested negative when he showed symptoms, a week later he was really poorly, tested again (as he's a front line worker) Positive result. He needs to self isolate regardless in my opinion.
Suprised that they did not make it up and say he had it so Boris can make excuse and hide away for a few weeks.
Are they expecting to be believed?😖
Has anyone seen his test result
What a fool
BBCScotlandNews I’m really pleased and I hope all MPs, their staff, catering staff, cleaners, security, police all stay safe as well.
Are we sure these tests work?
He still clearly had symptoms and should have been isolating until he got that result. Where is the leadership? What message are they sending?
If you believe that you’ll believe anything.
Thank God Boris won’t have to self-isolate. How would we have managed without his work ethic? parttimepm
Boris still doing 14 day self quarantine so he can skip PMQs lazyarse
BBCPolitics
How do we know that’s true not a cover up
That'd be a good result, but they have said that 1 in 5 -ve results are wrong. 2nd test needed.
BBCScotlandNews Wtf?! I read last night that he tested positive yesterday! 🤔
30% of negatives are false negatives
Good news. Still highlights how parliament could easily be disrupted by clusters of quarantine orders if an MP should test positive, and that maintaining remote working procedures is the most sensible approach.
HE SHOULDN'T HAVE GONE IN WITH POTENTIAL F***ING SYMPTOMS
Trouble is we know that the truth is flexible as far as this government is concerned, and this is a convenient result.
BBCScotlandNews What a surprise
Not sure I trust those tests but hey you don’t have to have CV to be sick. People do get sick you know!!
Probably hay fever🙄

Been advised by DC then, what a quick result
Well ain't that a coincidence 👀
Ha,ha, you were hoping for positive weren’t you😉
5Naureen Course he did. I’ll believe it when I see him back in Parliament in the next 5 days.
BBCPolitics Too many false negative tests to be accurate , another one needed
Probably bbc will classify this as bad news
Do U.K. tests give false readings like American ones often do?
Now as far as test and track goes, all the people there that day has to self-isolate for 14 days! What fud he go to work feeling unwell!? And not wear a facemask!?
Cant believe a word that comes from this government, I already predicted this morning that he would be negative, he will be off for the full two weeks if he lives.
Time for a clean, modern parliament building thats easier/cheaper to maintain ?
Надеюсь,что это правда
How do we know? Has anyone seen the test result? Also up to 40% give false negatives. ZeroTrust ToryLiesCostLives NotMovingOnTillDomIsGone JohnsonHasFailedTheNation ToryCriminalCovidMismanagement BrexitBeforeBreathing ReleaseTheRussiaReport ReesMoggResign DemocracyDying
No shot Sherlock ? How surprised am I? Shall we just wait a few days till till the hospital admission ? Get well Soon . Best wishes.
BBCPolitics Could we have a second opinion? Seems far too convenient...
Really? 🤔 Do we think he might have a couple of weeks holiday owed him anyway?
Or did he...?
Of course he does😂😂😂
I hope it wasn't bits of shit stuck up his nose from johnsons arse.
BBCPolitics Glad to hear this for his sake.
