Mr Blunt is a longstanding MP, having represented his Surrey constituency for 25 years. He announced his intention to stand down in May.Imran Ahmad Khan, found guilty of child sex assaultMr Blunt, uncle of actress Emily Blunt, has been one of Parliament’s most vocal defenders of gay and transgender rights since coming out in 2010.

He has held a number of ministerial positions during his 12 years as an MP, including being a minister at the Foreign Office, Wales Office and an assistant whip.
