So long, London: the fashion circus continues apace in Milan this week. The peculiarly 21st-century impulse to see-and-be-seen on camera took on new meaning at Diesel on day one, when Glenn Martens projected 1,000 Zoom callers across from IRL showgoers in his autumn/winter 2024 venue, while Kim Jones offered up a collection that felt one part Ancient Rome, one part New Romantics at Fendi, complete with polka dot embroidery and “Chupa Chups-sized lollipop holders”, per Vogue’s Luke Leitch.
Also certain to attract models and high-net-worth mortals in the days ahead: Adrian Appiolaza, Walter Chiapponi, and Matteo Tamburini’s debuts at Moschino, Blumarine and Tod’s respectively, along with sophomore outings from Sabato De Sarno at Gucci and Peter Hawkings at Tom Ford. Meanwhile, Marni is back on the MFW calendar after decamping to Paris for spring/summer 2024, and all of the usual heavy-hitters, from Bottega Veneta to Versace, will of course be showing, too.
