Alex Scott will be front and centre at this year's Soccer Aid as she presents the annual charity event alongside Dermot O'Leary. But away from the pitch, the former England footballer admitted to being "madly and deeply in love" with fellow Lioness Kelly Smith before her romance with Jess Glynne.
She continued: "I thought I'd be cheating you all if I didn't put that in there. And for me, it's like that first love story, I fell madly and deeply in love. And yes, there's that heartbreak and those things, but it's a huge part of my life and I wouldn't go back and change that." Now 45, Kelly has found happiness off the pitch, tying the knot with management consultant DeAnna Dobosz and becoming a mum to two kids. She bravely opened up about her battle with alcohol back in 2009, revealing that injuries led her to drink as a coping mechanism during her early days in the States: "I'd start drinking to try and make me feel a bit better," she confessed.
Kelly credits her more positive experience during her second US stint to personal growth and having her teammate Alex for support. She previously said: "This time, with the improvements I had made within myself, and with Alex there to bounce things off - somebody who knew me inside and out - it was a totally different prospect."
