Alan Carr has sent a special congratulations to Northampton Town FC after they defeated 76 other clubs to win Britain's biggest climate action football league. Cobblers came out on top of massive clubs like Manchester United and West Ham to take the trophy.
Cobblers announced they had finished top of the league yesterday, Monday, November 14. The Chatty Man, whose dad once managed Cobblers, sent in a video congratulating the club for "doing their best to tackle climate change."Northampton Town fans took over 15,000 green actions to get Cobblers to the number one spot.
Across the five-week tournament over 70,000 green actions were taken by football fans from across the country. The campaign kicked off on October 10 with Cambridge United as the reigning champions. The 46-year-old was born in Weymouth but spent his childhood in Northampton whilst his dad, Graham, managed Cobblers between 1985 and 1990. Graham played for the club during the 1960s and is currently an associate director.
