Ajay made big changes to his dish after being told it was too much like a Sunday roast in the last round. For the final dish, he made a slow-roasted lamb, lamb Rogan josh curry, butterbean masala, chutney and cumin potatoes.

Ajay Kumar's 'phenomenal' main course failed to convince all of the BBC's Great British Menu judges that it had the wow factor needed.

In the first round which aired on Monday, the chef's plant-based skills were tested with all dishes required to be vegan. Ellie Simmonds, a British Paralympic gold medal swimmer was guest judge alongside chef Tom Kerridge, who runs the only two Michelin star pub in the UK, as well as comedian Ed Gamble and restaurateur Nisha Katona.

Ajay again went in front of the judges on Tuesday's episode which had British weightlifter Emily Campbell as guest, to present a lobster dish with coconut, chutneys and fried vegetables. Named Game. Set. Catch. it was inspired by Andy Murray. Tonight the Glasgow chef returned to the kitchen in the hopes that his main dish would be enough to end his unlucky run. Cyclist Dame Laura Kenny, the first British woman to win 6 Olympic titles, was tonight's guest judge.
