Aerospace giant Airbus says it plans to cut 15,000 jobs as it deals with the effects of the coronavirus crisis. The move is subject to talks with unions which have opposed compulsory redundancies.
Some 134,000 people work for Airbus worldwide, with around a tenth of them in the UK.It expects to make the cuts by summer 2021, but hopes the majority of redundancies will be voluntary or through early retirement of staff.
But everyone said it was just the flu...🙄😏
I guess the room will be be celebrating. You have been actively campaigning against aviation for years.
nunomrn I bet the CEO will get a fat bonus at the end of the year for good results...
BBCWorld With hundreds (1000's) mothballed in desert, is there demand for new? Those in the desert - why? If not for reuse?
So the Welsh Assembly wants U.K. government to bail out Airbus and at the same time is pressuring Ryanair to cancel flights because Welsh people will be breaking the 5 mile rule that isn’t in law, is a guideline..........
Now it's because of coronavirus. It should be noted that Plane-maker Airbus has had a history of failures and have received multiple taxpayer-funded bailouts/'cash injections'. If you make a plane that no one wants to buy redundancies are inevitable.
BBCWorld WOW, WHY are you giving us these SAD JOB LOSES. ALL EYES FOCUSED ON THE BLACK LIVES MATTERS- LOOTERS, WHITE PEOPLE WILL HAVE NO JOBS WHILE THE CRIME WAVE AND DRUG TAKING BLACKS are in the FORE FRONT, as we watch Daily PROTESTS.............🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛
RTHondavehanson Not surprising with the fallout from a global pandemic. Would have been useful if the headline from U.K. actually stated that the British share of job losses across Europe was in fact 1700 with the other 13,000 being across Germany France &Spain
😢😢😢
BBCWorld Ask Beardie Branson for a couple of quid
BBCWorld why
I work on A320 and C-series (A220) programs and have seen orders shift about Airbus still has over 6000 A320 aircraft ready to build, so still 10 years worth, production gone from about 60 a month to 20 currently, but should be back to about 40 aircraft in few months
BBC’s agenda sending this tweet:Brexit; very, very bad.
Extinction Rebellion......AVIATION COLLAPSE........Covid-19. Just a coincidence?.......Don't think so!
As opposed to tablecloth maker Airbus.
Leave voters will love this, job loses are what they voted for. I reckon a few will be celebrating tonight 🍻🍾
BBCWorld interesting
Ever get the feeling the prize wasn't worth the sacrifice?
Fkin brexit
