British nationals in Afghanistan are being urged to stay away from Kabul airport amid a growing terrorism threat and a "volatile" security situation.Anyone in the area of the airport has been told to "move away to a safe location and await further advice".
The FCDO's travel advice already warned against all travel to Afghanistan, saying that "terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks."It comes as the UK is rushing to evacuate British nationals, as well as Afghans who worked for the UK and other vulnerable individuals, out of Kabul airport.
The government has said the UK's operation to evacuate people from Afghanistan ahead of the 31 August deadline is moving at "significant pace".The deadline for the end of the month is in place for foreign troops to leave the country.
