Actress Jodhi May, who stars in an uncompromising new film about a relationship between a teacher and a pupil, has defended it against critics who question its moral standpoint.
We’re spoon fed a diet of Hollywood movies/allegories which often revolve around one-dimensional “goodies and baddies” and culminate, rather predictably, in a moralistic ending. Seems May’s portrayal of the teacher is more variegated and doesn’t rely on that tired blueprint..
'this wld be an interesting marketing strategy, if it was the 60s' (olivia benson) unfortunately, as it is, it romanticizes sexual violence .. its depiction being nothing but ridiculous
It's not a new story in France since the suicide of Gabrielle Russier in 1969 and the movie Mourir d'aimer and the song by Aznavour.
The critics questioning the moral standpoint of this movie should take a second advice; that of the french president EmmanuelMacron and his spouse, for instance.
Lets not depict things that actually happen 🤦🏿♀️
I haven't read it but I assume her 'Defence' was along the lines of it being acting and therefore not actually, in any true sense, real. FFS.

There have been so many articles on female teachers with boys - they use the words 'relationship', 'affair', or 'seduced'. Never seen 'rape' or 'paedophile', even when the boy is very young. Also never seen feminists outraged over the far lighter sentences and gentle treatment.
Rape by any other name. Now, rape may be part of the story line but it is still a depiction of adult authority figure screwing a child.
How is abuse an affair?
It may not be moral, but it does happen. Art has the right to portray reality.
Yes women xxx
Does nobody remember Dawson’s Creek 🤨
Disrespectful, how much the social fabric has to be distorted just to statiate lust.
Sounds like the movie Summer of '42. Meh.
'Affair'
Here’s a good defence: it’s not real...
its not a dark subject at all, but that is what it became in the last 10 years because of the moral doctrines shouted by activists that constantly tell us how to feel and how to live..it is chocking people into some sort of submission. Marx would have liked
art should have the liberty to show 'uncomfortable' situations, otherwise we'll drown in mediocrity and political correctness. As long as people know what they're going to read/ watch, they should decide
I had an affair with one of my teachers. Mrs Bainbridge was 68 years old and going through a bi-curious phase. I was 15 and into home-made sponge puddings and custard. Win win really.
