🚗 Activists have installed more than 400 spoof adverts mocking the green credentials of car companies in cities across Europe

The ultimate aim of the campaign is a ban on advertising high-polluting vehicles – a goal shared with groups such as Greenpeace, Oxfam, and the World Wide Fund for Nature. While it is the vehicles that produce emissions, advertising is a “key enabling industry for high carbon products,” said Mr Merriman.

The operation was planned over 10 weeks and the spoof adverts were installed on billboards and at bus stops in 14 cities simultaneously. The Brandalism spokesman says that activists are aware of the risks of illegal activity but says it is unclear whether advertisers of their clients would pursue them. A study by a former lawyer for Google warned that corporations prosecuting subvertisers
