The shortlist of names in the frame to be the next Aberdeen manager is taking shape - but it looks as if Jimmy Thelin WON'T be on it after all.
Elfsborg boss Thelin had been one of the frontrunners. He almost landed the job before Barry Robson and he quickly emerged as a top target earlier this month, but it looks increasingly unlikely that he will be available, in a major disappointment to decision-makers at Pittodrie. The Scottish Sun report he's expected to stay at Elfsborg with their season due to commence on April 1.
The next manager will be Aberdeen's fifth in three years since Derek McInnes left in 2021 and club legend Russell Anderson reckons the high turnover needs to come to an end with the next appointment. He said: “There’s been a lot of upheaval at the club over the last few seasons and it’s not good for anybody. New managers come in and they have their own ideas, sign their own players which means existing players are maybe surplus to requirements or don’t fit into certain styles or tactics.
