Plans to transform an abandoned derelict Paisley estate into a new 180-home development have been rejected.
The derelict buildings in the estate are scheduled for demolition, with the council currently seeking a contractor to demolish the remaining 175 homes on Drums Avenue, Ferguslie Park Avenue, Tannahill Road and Tannahill Terrace. A series of images taken by a local photographer shows the properties have been targeted by both frauds trading as legitimate waste removal companies, as well as people dumping household waste. The area has also been targeted by vandalism and fires.
Springfield Partnerships also had their proposals for 45 affordable homes in Paisley rejected, with managing director Tom Leggeat expressing his disappointment at the decision.Springfield Partnerships Managing Director, Tom Leggeat, said: “Whilst this is the outcome we were anticipating following the recommendation for refusal for 45 much needed affordable housing in Paisley, we are thoroughly disappointed and confused that our proposal has been refused by Renfrewshire Council.
