The fiscal economy may have suffered but the true economy of intrinsic values are bubbling up.

All just because people cannot be asked to act responsibly during pandemic. I bet most will blame the government while breaking the already inadequate rules themselves. A bunch of spoiled brats not society.

Bad Tory management cost the economy

...and not doing it would have costs us 10x more than the 100,000 already murdered through Tory negligence, with all of the economic damage that comes with it.

That’s ok, they’ll just get the disabled, the old, and the poor to pay for it.

Are the Chines going to refund us after that lack of letting an investigation team in for a year? There is something fishy going on there and governments around the world did very little to force the situation as far as I can see or reported. Should almost be a cause for war!

Hope everyone is ready for Austerity 2.0

Imagine if we had a competent government that followed a zero Covid policy - this could have been avoided. Remember it was the tories that killed the economy and the tories who killed your granny

Losing sight of the need to govern, there is now a similarity to children on a Fair Ground ride, eagerly watching for the final crash, or a pilot transfixed by the speed of a dive.

The UK (esp. England) is a nation of arrogant idiots. They deserve this consequence. A stitch in time saves 9.🤨

closing the border to air tourism a year ago would have cost a fraction of that and would have prevented an outbreak.

“The UK economy”. Someone will have to explain that to me. It’s like when people say that the play off final is the most financial rewarding game; but for who? Not the fans, or the majority. Most normals of the UK don’t have £251 to spare, so these numbers are ludicrous.

What its cost us is the saving of lives. With out a lockdown how many more would have been lost? As Europe not gone back into lockdown?

Maybe you can make it up with one of those mile-long yards sales.

The £251bn is not a pure loss. Most of the saved resources can be used in the future.

Why are you telling us this? I just want to read it’s worse in Germany or it doesn’t matter

Brexit was a huge part of that

Brexit is costing more. What a place the Tories have put the UK in.

Las pérdidas en dinero de los gobiernos..., se transformarán en deterioro de la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos? Entonces la política será una excelente opción para vivir bien? Y la corrupción se disparará? El clientelismo político? La compra de opinión? España

If they follow what happened here in Australia there will be a massive rebound when they reopen.

Like the incumbents care

How much would it have cost the economy if there had not been lockdowns, beyond the additional loss of life from not locking down?

And for what? The major of people never wanted protecting from Lockdown.
