Growing up in Atlanta, and as a Latina, it exposed me to all types of music. My mixtapes were all over the place! They’d have neo-soul, Reggaeton, Folk, Country, Hip-Hop, Alt-Pop, Alt-Latin and more. But it was more about the song for me, than the actual genre. And I think the common ground for me, amongst all the different songs I loved, was the soul. A song can have would and feeling no matter the genre. If a song made me feel some type of way, it went on my mixtape. No questions asked.
Everything about the films I’ve seen of his is inspiring – the attention to detail, the colour palettes, the rich storylines and character development, and of course, the music. Josh and I have always tried writing songs that ignite some sort of synesthetic feelings in listeners. Songs that really impact me on a deep level immediately wake up the visual part of my brain.
