A community prepares to rebuild itself as bulldozers move in

Built in the 1950s, when families first started to move in to the social housing estate the street would have been busy with children and young families, excited to call this corner of Blackburn home. Now, the properties are slowly emptying.

Alex has lived in his home for 11 years and says the plans are an "inconvenience" but due to the nature of renting, they have been left with no choice. "We're all ready to move in at this point at this point," Alex told LancsLive. Alex says he was informed about the news from Together Housing this summer, just around the time he had finished renovation on their new £3.5k kitchen. "Now it's scrap because it won't fit in the new house anyway," Alex added.

She told LancsLive: "Because obviously we've not lived here that long it was like ahh, we're having to move house again. It was ." Julie lives in a home that will be unaffected by the demolition work, but is still under Together Housing. She is questioning why she wasn't informed in advance about the plans, particularly as it will impact the houses next to hers.Julie's 91-year-old mum lives next door to her and was also not informed about the work. "They should come and knock on the door and say - this is going to happen and there's going to be a lot of noise and there's going to be a lot of dust.
