Dear Class of 2020, keep fighting for change.

That was the resounding message from Michelle and Barack Obama, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift during their virtual commencement speeches. The all-day celebration hosted on YouTube also featured musical performances from Lizzo and Katy Perry. Not to mention, a stand-out performance of “Still I Rise” featuring Madison Calley, Misty Copeland, Naya Lovell, Janelle Monáe, Shonda Rhimes, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kelly Rowland, and Yara Shahidi.

“So it wasn’t exactly what I pictured, but I was still really proud of it,” she said. “I guess one good lesson to come from it is expect the unexpected but celebrate anyway.”“The entertainment business is still very sexist,” Beyoncé explained, referencing her own battle with everyday sexism in the music industry during her speech. “It’s still very male-dominated, and as a woman, I did not see enough female role models given the opportunity to do what I knew I had to do.
