Caerphilly council chief to appeal sacking after £4m pay saga

Speaking after the meeting, which was closed to the public, Mr O'Sullivan said his sacking was a"travesty" and there had been a"vicious media campaign" against him.

It was claimed Mr O'Sullivan, his deputy Nigel Barnett and head of legal services Daniel Perkins authorised a 20% pay rise for senior officers, while most other staff had a pay freeze.Anthony O'Sullivan, Nigel Barnett and Daniel Perkins were accused of authorising a pay rise for senior staff while freezing pay for othersin 2015, the two other men agreed payouts worth £300,000 between them.

"What I would say to the people of Caerphilly now is wait until the employment tribunal takes place in public, wait until the full facts emerge in the public domain. Then make a reasoned decision. "It should also be noted that during this time we had to allow criminal investigations to proceed, which added almost two-and-a-half years to the overall timeframe.

Yet they have to cut frontline services to ' save money ' 😑

Wow, bureaucracy at its finest...

Crook.

Just to remind him what it was about

actionfrauduk should investigate Caerphilly Council after £6mn scandal amongst Council chiefs thievery

The salaries of local authority staff astound me, but here, I’m equally bewildered why it takes SIX years to investigate anything.

That is tax payers money. Disgraceful Council behaviour. This guy is no better than a laggard who can't be bothered to work and believes the world owes them a lifestyle on benefits. There is no justification for 20% pay rises, corruption at the top as usual.

Not worth it

He should of been dismissed with a payout 6 years ago. The fact he has not moved on and got a job elsewhere rather than play the system and had money for nothing is astonishing. Nice work if you can get it. Bet he gets a payout when he appeals. money orientated and shameful.

Wouldn’t be labour would they? Lol

He needs to tread a little more Caerphilly...

6 years’ “special” leave at £130k + per annum? Nice work if you can get it.

Greed ! It's all about greed and also stupid council's ignorance .

I see nothing wrong with this 😱😱😱😱😱 shocking behaviour and his salary for the period of leave should be taken back! Idiot
