Across the South West and part of Wales, an estimated 5,500 homes were cut off as gusts brought down power cables

More than 15,000 homes have been left without power as the UK is battered by 96mph winds during Storm Atiyah.In Wales, massive electricity faults were reported in Caerphilly, Ceredigion, Gwynedd, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Swansea.
