The U.S. last year released an intelligence assessment sent to more than 100 countries that accused Moscow of using spies, social media and Russian state-run media to erode public faith in the integrity of democratic elections. Russia has repeatedly denied that it has ever intervened in foreign elections and said last month that it would not meddle in the November 2024 U.S. vote.

The memorandum also included a commitment to assist other countries against foreign attempts to interfere in their elections. It did not specifically name any country behind such attempts.
