“All I see is a person with balls of steel,” commented Redditor u/orhpisai1990, whose comment received more than 840 upvotes. When asked why he got that close to the spider, he said he wanted to get as close as possible so he wouldn’t be accused of exaggerating the animal’s size. “If you look carefully, you can see my index finger pressing on the web,” he added.

“The big ones have been known to eat small birds and reptiles. Happy to see at least a few of them get this big in Singapore,” added another netizen.Others noted that the male spiders are much smaller than the females and often end up being eaten by the females after impregnating them.
