BEIRUT - Depositors scuffled and long lines formed at Lebanese banks Monday as they partially reopened after a week-long closure following a slew of heists by customers desperate to access their money.

"I don't care about anything, I need my salary," one Internal Security Forces member yelled from behind the locked gates. Earlier this month five banks were stormed in one day with depositors seeking to unlock frozen savings, after a string of similar holdups in past weeks. Georges Hajj of Lebanon's bank employees union said that some branches did not reopen, but those that did increased security.

Uplifting lower-wage workers not as easy as just setting minimum salaries: DPM WongSINGAPORE — Uplifting lower-wage workers is not as easy as just setting minimum salaries and Singapore must be careful about “unintended consequences” when working through solutions, said Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Saturday (Sept 24). If it is not so easy......ynot just sat minumum wages instead of this n that.....very complicating. Just enough so low wagers doesnt have to eat grasses. The question is whether a solution will actually comes along ? While awaiting for a “perfect” solution, what will happen to all of them ? And not to forget, with costs of living rising, many families living pay check to pay check may fall into this lower category? 🤔🤔

Is there actually any “silver bullet” for any situation ? There will be always 2 sides, yin and yang..but the important thing is to be emphatic to the sufferings of the people and not view the situation from only one’s own lens… Reality there is a Shortage of workers. Uplifting lower-wage workers not as easy as just setting minimum salaries: DPM WongSingapore must be careful of “unintended consequences” when working through solutions to advance the well-being of lower-wage workers, said Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. And civil servants just got their salary adjustments? 🤔 What does this mean? “…the beneficiaries of a higher minimum wage are not low-income families but young people from rich families who go out and work at minimum wage levels”? The key is money is circulated in Singapore and not out of Singapore, increase minimum wage will increase spending and increase GDP and increase more demand= more GST. The problem is they use foreign workers which will transfer their money out of SG instead of spending here.
