More hawkers in Singapore have raised the prices of their food items, with $4 or $4.50 becoming the new standard prices for dishes like chicken rice and noodles. However, one carrot cake seller, Claire Huang, has decided to keep her prices at $3.50 to offer a budget meal option.

More hawkers have done away with $3 or $3.50 options, with $4 or $4.50 being the new prices for a standard plate of chicken rice or a bowl of noodles in recent years. SINGAPORE – Upping the price of her white carrot cake to $4 would be more profitable, but carrot cake seller Claire Huang is keeping it priced at $3.50 after designating it as a budget meal .
