The 24NewsHD TV channel reported that the prime minister during the meeting was briefed about the electricity production, supply and consumption and also a comprehensive strategy for ending the powerInformation Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and PML-N leaders including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Musaddiq Malik also attended the meeting.
The meeting was also informed that 20, out of those 27 power plants, have been made operational which has increased the production of electricity. “The previous government did not buy fuel for power plants in four years. The current government not only managed fuel in two weeks, butis also being dealt with by increasing power generation from these power plants,” the prime minister was briefed during the meeting.
“The total power generation in the country is about 18,500 MW. Depending on the demand, the power shortfall is 500 MW to 2000 MW,” the meeting was told. During the briefing, the lack of timely supply of fuel by the previous government for running the power plant was termed the main reason for
