Chief Minister on Information and Local Government Kamran Khan Bangash said on Thursday that recovery rate of coronavirus patients in the province has increased to 71 percent and infection rate has decreased from 25 percent to 15 percent.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, he said coronavirus cases were on the rise over the last two months but now steps taken by thegovernment and health department and people’s cooperation have helped curb the spread of virus.
"Doctors, nurses and paramedics are our frontline heroes who are risking their lives to provide medical care to patients," Kamran said. He said Dr Faisal Sultan, focal person to the prime minister for COVID-19, and Interior Minister Ejaz Shah had appreciated the steps taken by theHe said the helpline 1700 got a positive response from the public. People in large numbers are getting information and help from the helpline regarding COVID-19 and related issues.
He said the government locked down hotspots as part of a strategy and smart lockdowns yielded good results. He said that smart lockdowns were enforced in 18 areas across the province on Wednesday, adding that so far smart lockdowns have been enforced in 144 affected areas across the province and the number of affected people in these areas is 378,687. He said that 3,614 houses have been isolated in these areas.
