A police inspector in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu adopted a unique way to create awareness among people about the spread of deadly coronavirus.
In an apparent exercise to scare people often travelling with children or the wanderers, the inspector himself turned into a ‘coronavirus’ to check people on the roads. Police inspector Rajesh Babu wore a coronavirus-themed helmet and stood at a checkpoint in the Indian city of Chennai during a government-imposed nationwide lockdown as a preventive measure against the COVID-19 coronavirus
Over the last one week, from across India, images of police personnel forcing the “footloose” who stir from home and hit the streets, do an Indian form of sit-up. Images of police personnel wielding their batons also beamed into living rooms. One of the enduring images is that of a traffic police personnel in Chennai being reduced to hand-folded despair, as he made an impassioned plea to motorists not to venture out unnecessarily.
