Coronavirus outbreak: All sections of Motorways closed for traffic
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – All sections of the motorways have been closed for traffic to tackle the outbreak of novel coronavirus.The Motorway Police announced that all sections of the motorway will remain closed for public transport, while only vehicles of essential commodities and oil supply vehicles will be allowed for travel with limited staff. The Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Islamabad, M2 from Islamabad to Lahore, M3 from Faisalabad to Pindi Bhatian, M4 from Faisalabad to Gojra, M5 from Multan to Sukkur, M9 Karachi-Hyderabad and M-11 Lahore to Sialkot motorway has been closed for all kinds of traffic. According to the motorway police spokesperson, private cars will be allowed to travel with two persons. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus across Pakistan. The number of confirmed (COVID-19) cases in Pakistan reached to 1102 after 323 cases reported in Punjab on Thursday. According to the details garnered, eight deaths from coronavirus has been reported in the country while the total number of cases have soared to 1102 as 417 patients have been tested positive for the epidemic in Sindh, 131 in Balochistan, 323 in Punjab, 121 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 84 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 25 in Islamabad and one in Azad Kashmir. The total number of patients who have recovered is 21 . Federation and all the provincial governments have tightened the measures to curb the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. Pakistan continues to observe partial lockdown to counter the coronavirus pandemic as unnecessary movement outside remains halted across the country.
