Following reports of millions of vaccine doses expiring, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora has urged the Department of Health to expand the inoculation of second COVID-19 booster doses to the general population.
“Kaysa naman mag-expire baka pwede nang ipabakuna…or if they are looking at the age range, the closest to senior citizens. Why not vaccinate yung 50 to 60 [years old] muna? Nanghihinayang lang po ako dahil maraming bakuna ang pwedeng gamitin para sa second booster,” he added. “The EO of the President says that face mask wearing is optional. Optional means binibigyan tayo ng laya na magdecision. Ang payo ko po sa bawat isa, alamin natin ang ating individual health risks,” said Zamora.
“Challenge po ‘yan. As mayors, these are the things we really have to solve we have to streamline our services. Pag-aaralang mabuti alin ba sa mga nakabudget ang pwedeng hindi muna gawin. We have to prioritize,” he added.Zamora was recently elected as president of the Metro Manila Council and the co-chairperson of the Regional Development Council last week.
Let me get this straight, we as a nation will push for the second boosters due to expiring jabs, and not because there's new data showing jabs stop covid transmission.
