For the TOWNS Foundation Inc., the outright dismissal of the Marcos protest should be the “proper decision” by the SC, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, in accordance to its own rules.
If the recount showed there was a substantial recovery of votes, the recount will proceed to the remaining 22 provinces and five highly-urbanized cities in the protest. TOWNS stands for The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service. The foundation, which is also an award-giving body, is composed of over 160 “responsible, cause-oriented career women who have served the nation in private and public capacities over the past 50 years.”
The group said it was Robredo who gained an additional 15,000 votes in the three pilot provinces after the recount, thus, the PET should dismiss the Marcos protest. Another group, called August Twenty-Once Movement , called on Marcos camp to stop its “incessant grumblings” over its electoral protest pending for resolution before the PET.
