CEBU CITY -- Officials here expressed confidence that, unlike the National Capital Region (NCR), the island of Cebu will not be reverted to a stricter community quarantine.

— Officials here expressed confidence that, unlike the National Capital Region , the island of Cebu will not be reverted to a stricter community quarantine.Dr. Jaime Bernadas, regional director of the Department of Health-Central Visayas, said that despite the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, hospitals in Cebu are not overwhelmed.

The island of Cebu is currently under the modified general community quarantine, the most relaxed community quarantine classification. “I do not see for now, knock on wood, a forthcoming reclassification of our region. Hopefully the downward trend of these cases will continue to be as what we see on a daily basis,” added Bernadas.

“I believe this cooperation between the private sector and LGUs is not established in other areas, the reason why there is a surge or even uncontrolled spread of COVID like what NCR is having now,” Feliciano said.
