BUTUAN CITY – Tribal chieftains and sectoral leaders from different tribes and top officials of local government units and from the various religious sectors jointly called for peace and unity in the Caraga region and the whole island of Mindanao.

Meanwhile, in his strongly-worded message, the Most Rev. Bishop Cosme Damian R. Almedilla, DD of the Diocese of Butuan also appealed to the people of Mindanao and Caraga region to continue their unified effort “without let up” in solving “our societal problems, the insurgency, and other issues and concerns of the different sectors.”

On the other hand, Atty. Paisal M. Mamintal of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos emphasized the similarities between cultures of the people of Mindanao that he said can become the “strength to attain peace.”
