The Philippines picked up two more gold medals courtesy of Bernalyn Bejoy and Frederick Ramirez in the 2024 Thailand Open Track and Field Championships on Saturday, June 16.

Bejoy, a four-time national champion, clocked 2 minutes and 13.31 seconds to rule the women’s 800 meters against closest pursuers and hometown bets Ruedee Netthai and Chanapa Boonitsarasaree .

Ramirez, meanwhile, who is fresh from leading Jose Rizal University to a three-peat title in the NCAA last week, resumed his dominance with a golden performance in the men’s 400m. The PH team actually posted a 1-2 finish with Ramirez, a Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, triumphing with a time of 46.58sec and teammate Michael Del Prado collecting the silver with 46.82sec.Meanwhile, Hussein Loraña settled for the bronze medal in the men’s 800m after clocking 1:54.57, finishing behind eventual gold medalist Li An-Yi of Chinese Taipei and Sam Van Doi of Vietnam .

Sarah Dequinan also captured the bronze medal in women’s long jump after leaping 5.81m behind Thai gold medalist Supawat Choothong and silver winner Tia Louis Rozario of Singapore . At the 2024 Malaysia Open Athletics Championships, Harry Diones and Rone Malipay bagged the silver and bronze in men’s triple jump behind eventual champion and hometown bet Andre Anura.related stories
