The Dela Rosa 2 carpark in Makati will soon be transformed into an actual park

Apart from a better public transport network as well as safer pedestrian and alternative mobility pathways, we could also use more green spaces in our country. Yes, several cities in Metro Manila are implementing car-free Sundays to let people reclaim roads and car-centric infrastructure, but we’d also like permanent facilities we can enjoy on any given day.

Makati City, which initiated car-free Sunday mornings on Ayala Avenue during the pandemic, has now announced that it will be transforming the Dela Rosa 2 carpark into a “vibrant hub.” The artist renderings above show the future development as an urban green space. From carpark to park? .

The AUV Terminal in the current facility will be moved to Dela Rosa 1 carpark. “Throughout this renovation phase, alternative parking options such as the Legazpi and Dela Rosa 1 Carparks will ensure your convenience,” the memo reads. That’s all we know of this project at the moment, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates.
