The Supreme Court (SC) has reversed the Sandiganbayan as it ordered the acquittal of former Siquijor governor Orlando A. Fua Jr. on a charge of obstruction of justice.

The Supreme Court has reversed the Sandiganbayan as it ordered the acquittal of former Siquijor governor Orlando A. Fua Jr. on a charge of obstruction of justice.

But the SC reminded Fua “to be more circumspect in his actuations and dealings which may taint the integrity of the public office.” After the operation, he said his team served against Largo the search warrant issued by the regional trial court for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Fua said he advised Largo to accept the authority of the policemen who were serving the warrant. He said he asked Valmoria the basis for conducting the search at nighttime. He also said he asked why the team forced themselves into the house before declaring the search and before the witnesses arrived.

The anti-graft court also ruled, among other things, that there was nothing on record that would cast doubt on the credibility of the police officers to testify against Fua and that there was no merit on his allegation that he aided the government by consenting to be a witness to the inventory of the seized items.

“The Court views this as a valid exercise by Largo, through petitioner, of his Constitutional right to be secure in his or her person, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures of whatever nature. “This is considering that the prosecution, through witnesses…, who were both present during the search, admitted that it was conducted in an orderly manner and that petitioner only asked questions regarding the regularity of the operation. Verily, the witnesses for the prosecution confirmed that petitioner only questioned the legality of the search warrant and its implementation.

Marcos reverses Duterte's independent policyWith the massive American military presence in nine AFP bases and prowling our airspace and waters, we certainly do not need more army, navy and air force assets, except those needed to decimate fellow Filipinos committing rebellion or terrorism. isn't it funny that the ones crying foreign intervention to the presence of US forces in the country are also the ones pushing for ICC intercession in our justice system....bunch of hypocries Do you mean that crappy independent policy? During FPRRD, why he didn't revoke all our defense pacts with the USA? MDT, VFA, and EDCA! He even gives the USA the assurance that the PH will be on their side when SHTF with RUS and CN? A strong willed leader is needed. Wisdom is a must. Does Marcos have these?
