MANILA, Philippines: Rookie Abe Pono is out to prove that she is a dependable backup setter for the NU Lady Bulldogs.

Pono said that she's always ready to step up in those times when NU's main setter Lams Lamina isn't exactly having a good game.'My mindset is that whenever Ate Lams isn't having a good game, I know I can fill that void. I want to prove that I can step up and fill the void,' said Pono.

Pono's back-to-back solid performances in limited action helped NU win both matches, 25-17, 13-25, 25-17, 25-20 against FEU and 25-13, 25-19, 25-16 against UE as the third seed Lady Bulldogs rolled to their fifth straight win for a 5-1 slate.Pono, who started for the Lady Bulldogs against the Lady Warriors in the second set, said that she's not on her A game yet.'I'm not really in my A game today.
