Veteran radio commentator Percival Mabasa, popularly known as Percy Lapid, was shot dead on Monday night in Las Piñas City. 'One of the famous commentators on radio and a former broadcaster of DWIZ 882 KHZ AM, Percy Lapid, was ambushed and died in Las Piñas City at past 8 this evening,' fellow radio broadcaster Marou Sarne of DWIZ wrote on Facebook on Monday night.

Reports said two armed men on motorcycle fired at Lapid's vehicle. Lapid, a known critic of former president Rodrigo Duterte and President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., has a radio show on DWBL 1242 called Lapid Fire.Lapid was the older brother of former National Press Club president and former Manila Bulletin reporter Roy Mabasa.His last broadcast was on September 30.
