An association of private schools on Saturday expressed willingness to accommodate learners displaced by the Taal’s unrest on a “study now, pay later” scheme.

The private school members of the Federation of Associations of Private School Administrators said they were willing to “respond to the challenge” faced by the Department of Education when it comes to the continuity of learning of the displaced students.

FAPSA President Eleazardo Kasilag said that there are close to 3,000 private school-members of FAPSA. “We are willing to assist the DepEd, we have enough rooms if they are willing to come to private schools – just notify us,” he said. Kasilag said that DepEd needs to inform private schools of students interested and the voucher system arrangement can be adopted. “The important thing is to continue with the lost class days of students without disturbing the next school calendar,” he added.

In times of disasters, FAPSA also urged DepEd to work with private schools to help ensure that education of all learners affected will continue. “At a time like this, DepEd can rely on the private schools as partners,” he ended.
