MANILA - The Philippines is allowing Filipino migrant workers stranded in their home country to return to their jobs in Hong Kong and Macau, an official said Tuesday.

They will, however, be subjected to "certain procedural formalities," said Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Brigido Dulay, amid the travel ban to and from the Chinese territories, as well as on mainland China due to the coronavirus disease 2019 .

"OFWs returning for work in Hongkong and Macau have been exempted from the outbound travel ban by the IATF-EID , subject to certain procedural formalities," he said in a tweet. Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier said an inter-agency body is considering to lift the government's travel ban on Macau, which has reported only 10 cases of COVID-19.
