Pasay City has been placed under state of calamity due to the extremely high incidence of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the city.

A resolution was passed by the city council on Sunday to release the calamity fund for the purpose of combating the spread of the illness.in its Resolution No. 05, Series of 2020 adopted on March 15 recommended to the Sangguniang Panlungsod the declaration of a state of calamity in the city.

According to the Pasay City Health Office, there are currently two COVID-19 cases and nine persons under investigation confined in various hospitals at Pasay City as well as 30 persons under monitoring .Due to this, the city has also imposed a curfew as recommended by the Metro Manila Council. The council found the measure necessary during the duration of the imposition of the community quarantine ordered by the national government.

With this, a resolution was also passed enjoining the temporary closure of all shopping malls and other similar establishments in the city during the community quarantine except those offering essential services as part of the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
