Cotabato City will be placed on quarantine starting on March 16, 2020 to prevent possible carriers of the COVID-19 from entering southwestern Mindanao's economic center, its mayor said.
"Ang Cotabato City ay isang open city. Ibig sabihin, maraming pumapasok dito na galing sa ibang lugar... Ang public health ay isang bagay na hindi natin pwedeng isakripisyo," the mayor said. Community quarantine guidelines will be released on Sunday, a day before the city implement's its lockdown, she said.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier placed Metro Manila under a month-long community quarantine as COVID-19 cases in the capital region continue to rise.
