Manila City government employees will be following four-day work week arrangements under a skeletal workforce policy in light of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) following the signing of an executive order.

According to Executive Order No. 15, that was signed by Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, all government employees shall render a total of 12 working hours per day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., provided that the last two working hours shall be devoted to cleaning and disinfecting of work areas.

However, those involved in disaster risk reduction and management, health, and sanitation are exempted from the order. Additionally, the No Work, No Pay principle will be applied to employees who will incur absences during the duration of the order, the executive order read.The country’s COVID-19 alert system was raised to Code Red Sublevel 2 on Thursday, prompting President Duterte to place Metro Manila under community quarantine.

As of Friday, the Department of Health announced 12 additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the Philippines to 64. There have also been five COVID-19-related fatalities in the country, according to the health department.
