Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the statement as the Senate probes the questionable release of inmates under the Good Conduct Time Allowance law.
“Kumbaga parang sa Customs, nalusutan siya na naman. Eh, mahihirapan din naman kasi kung yung mga tao doon, ever since, panahon pa ng ilang administrasyon, dati na nilang ginagawa yun. Kahit sino pang ilagay mo doon, kung dati nang magagaling sila doon, eh talagang mapapalusutan ka nga ,” he added. President Duterte fired Faeldon last week for disobeying his order about the release of inmates supposedly not covered under the law. However, two days later, Duterte said that he still trusts the embattled BuCor chief.
“It doesn’t do anything. That’s the personal statement of the President because he knows him personally. And the Ombudsman will never be influenced, nor intimidated. Knowing the Ombudsman, Ombudsman Sammy Martires. His reputation is solid. He will go about his work as the Constitution directs him to do,” he added.
“The President always respects the decision of independent bodies, whether constitutional or not, even its own department or agencies,” he added.
