In a statement on Thursday, April 29, the PCG deployed the BRP Capones to ensure the safe and secured transportation of medical supplies for Batanes health workers amid coronavirus disease pandemic.
The Coast Guard also delivered new equipment for the Bureau of Fire Protection – Batanes and assorted medicines for the local residents donated by the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development in Basco Port, Batanes. Meanwhile, the PCG added that some agricultural supplies such as mallard ducklings, veterinary medicines, and farm supplies were also transported to support the operations of the Department of Agriculture – Batanes Experiment Station.
Last month, the PCG also assisted the Department of Health in transporting COVID-19 vaccines in MIMAROPA .
