THAT video of a school teacher berating her students in unkind words triggered so many. Calls for her immediate firing dominated social media . Children are not supposed to be spoken to that way, according to many. Teachers cannot speak to their students in harsh tones. I remember being told that being a 'terror' teacher is no longer tolerable and has no place in modern pedagogy.
I never thought I would see the day that I had to be conscious that the requirements I give to assess the learning of my students may cause them stress that may be harmful to their mental health. Emerging out of this are students who now use as excuses for non-timely compliance of requirements the fact that they are having some mental health issues.
