Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said that the government’s pandemic task force has already secured the 4 million doses of coronavirus vaccines that Metro Manila mayors have requested following reports of a spike in the number of infections in the region.Nograles made the statement after Metro Manila mayors requested an additional 4 million COVID-19 vaccine doses as the National Capital Region was scheduled to shift to the enhanced community quarantine from August 6 to 20, 2021.
In an interview with Super Radyo DZBB, Nograles said National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. and Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon already assured the mayors that they will get additional vaccine shots. “Binigyan ng assurance ang ating mga NCR mayors na yung 4 million doses na kinakailangan for NCR ay na-secure na ,” he said.
“Alam na namin kung ano yung mga brands na gagamitin, na darating sa ating bansa at itatabi namin purely for NCR ,” he added. As of July 29, a total of 19,359,927 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered with 7,835,715 completing the required two doses.for the month of August due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and to prevent the spread of the dreaded Delta variant.
