A pumping station in Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila is now operational after the Department of Public Works and Highways completed its construction recently.
According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, the new pumping station is expected to complement the Blumentritt Interceptor Catchment Area with its four floodgates, four units of electromechanical pumps with a capacity of 3.5 cubic meters, and two generators. The secretary furthered that the new pumping station allows alternative drainage that will ensure the effectiveness of the drainage interceptors, along with the non-structural measures such as declogging of river basins.
