The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a red lightning alert to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), only to lift it a few minutes later, Sunday.

The lightning advisory was issued at 12:41 p.m., and was promptly posted on the Manila International Airport Authority Facebook page.

It was an alert stopping NAIA operations from going on any ramp movement for both aircraft and ground personnel. “A prolonged lightning red alert may cause delays in flight operations. The MIA Authority is monitoring the situation for contingencies that may be required as a consequence.” MIAA said in the advisory.

An advisory came less than 15 minutes later, saying that the alert was lowered to a lightning yellow alert. Another advisory was then posted stating that the yellow alert was lifted, allowing the airport to continue its operation.
