More Filipino college graduates are now taking up technical vocational education training courses including those offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to apply for employment opportunities overseas.

According to JP Soriano’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, a study on the Philippine Education Situationer: Challenges and Ways Forward showed the number of college graduates enrolling in TVET in 2018 was higher than college undergraduates, and those who graduated from high school and elementary. The Department of Labor and Employment said it would depend on the job vacancy if the applicant should take another course. It also advised students to look up in-demand opportunities before choosing their field of study for their tertiary education.

“In-demand courses na lumalabas is 'yung sa digital economy,” DOLE Employment and Human Resource Development cluster Undersecretary Carmela Torres said. Due to the increasing demand for TESDA graduates, the labor agency said it included in the TESDA curriculum the teaching of “soft skills” or the skills needed for managerial positions such as the proper way of handling and communicating with employees.

Addressing poverty would decrease tuberculosis cases in PH — health expert"Alam natin na ang tuberculosis ay matagal na sa Pilipinas at hanggang ngayon, although marami na tayong mga programa sa tuberculosis on the government side especially &39;yung directly observed treatment natin, accessible na &39;yung treatment support ng mga pasyenteng [may] TB but because of poverty, because of the very poor condition ng ating mga kababayan minsan mataas pa rin ang hawaan ng tuberculosis because, for me, I think it&39;s a disease of poverty," Solante said.
