In a taped address aired Friday morning, Duterte said aside from the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, the province of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Zamboanga City likewise will remain under GCQ.The rest of the country, meanwhile, will be under the modified general community quarantine , Duterte said.
On Thursday, the Philippines logged a record-high 3,954 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total caseload to 89,374.
UPDATE: President Rodrigo Duterte announces the following areas under the general community quarantine(GCQ) until August 15, 2020:
These GCQ areas have 70% to 90% ICU & ventilator utilization. The next two weeks is going to be a disaster, and we will probably see news of people needing beds getting turned away. Hospitals are already starting to shut down one by one.
